Nick Topjian

Nick Topjian is a multi-lingual (English, Chinese, Japanese) American business professional who has over ten years of experience with the Asia-Pacific Region. His work spans corporate communications and business development for China-based companies and direct investment advisory services for foreign companies entering the Chinese marketplace.
Mr. Topjian is a founder of the Redpoll Group LLC, a business advisory firm with presence in the U.S. and China. The Redpoll Group LLC assists international companies to expand into China by delivering — from a single source —a full range of business intelligence, market research, and direct investment advisory services.
Prior to founding Redpoll Group LLC, Mr. Topjian served as Vice President of the Beijing-member firm of M&A International (www.mergers.net),
the world's leading alliance of independent investment banking
firms focused on middle-market transactions. In 2007, M&A
International completed transactions worth an aggregate value of $21
billion.
Prior to this, Mr. Topjian
served as Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Business
Development for Sun Media, one of China's leading private media
investment groups. Sun Media was founded by one of China’s leading
television hosts, Yang Lan, who is commonly referred to as the “Oprah
Winfrey of China.” In 2005 SMIH was recognized by Media Magazine as
China’s largest and most profitable private media group.
Mr.
Topjian is a published author, translator and business interpreter. He
has translated business publications such as China Databar’s 130-page
research volume on the Chinese energy industry (from Chinese into
English). In the travel space, Mr. Topjian has researched and written
for Let’s Go travel guides — one of the world’s leading guidebook
series — in destinations such as the Czech Republic/Poland,
Iceland/Norway, Japan and New Zealand. His writing has been published
in four separate editions of Let’s Go guides and sold internationally.
Over
the course of his career, Mr. Topjian has worked and traveled in over
35 countries on 5 continents. He has been interviewed by the New York
Times.com for a video article entitled "Reverse Brain Drain”
(published on December 26 2008). He has also appeared on China Central
Television (CCTV 9) as a special guest of Business Hour, a nationally-broadcast business TV program.
Mr.
Topjian earned a B.A. with Honors from Harvard University,
concentrating in East Asian Languages and Civilizations and receiving a
Summa Cum Laude mark on his senior thesis. He has completed advanced
study programs at Stanford University’s Kyoto Center for Japanese
Studies in Kyoto, Japan and at Fudan University in Shanghai.
Mr. Topjian resides in Beijing and travels frequently to the United States and Europe.
